The Titanic Trail is delighted to be able to offer the "Titanic Dropping Anchor in Cobh" print from the famous Father Browne Collection of Titanic images.
The Picture of the Titanic dropping Anchor was taken by Francis Browne, studying to become a Jesuit priest at that time. The Titanic dropped anchor near Roches Point, just outside the harbour mouth to await the two tender ferries carrying the last passengers to board the ill fated ship. Compared with the photographers such as Doisneau and Cartier-Bresson, Fr. Browne's photographic collection contains the only visual record of photographs of the Titanic as she left Queenstown (Cobh) in Ireland to set across the Atlantic.
